The room was well-equipped and spotlessly clean. It was also provided with a bathroom and balcony, and outside chairs. The hotel was in a central location and really close to the restaurant as well as Santander.

I stated at the Valentin with my two boys overnight on route to Santander. The hotel was not so impressive from the outside and it was in the middle of the town. However once through the doors I was pleasanlty surprised the lady on receiption was very friendly although she spoke little English. The hotel benifits from a seccure car park although this costs an extra 6 euros. The room was very comfortable with a good shower in the bathroom. Dinner in the resteraunt was excellent although we would have benifited from a greater understanding of the Spanish language. In the morning we walked around the town which is full of history. I will be staying again at the Valentin

It was approximately 60 miles from the Santander ferry which docked at 17.00, and therefore just the right distance to travel before stopping for the night. Our package included dinner, which was served from 21.00. Clean, lovely garden and very Spanish. We stayed on the first and last nights of our holiday. Breakfast the first night was very sparse, but much improved on our return visit.

It was easy to find and we didn't need a taxi to get into the main town to find somewhere to eat. The car park was really secure and well worth the 6 Euro charge.

Position in centre of town and its accessability when travelling to and from ferry. We chose this because of its location and we had dined there two years prior to our recent visit. The town is an ideal distance on the A67 from Santander to make a stop when returning to the UK.
Rather unfriendly to english travellers who have some spanish. We walked miles in pouring rain to find something to eat before 9pm as there appeared to be nothing but tapas available in the hotel and when the menu was removed from us and we were told that it was for weekends and only certain days that took the biscuit! The restaurant appeared to be closed. The breakfast was a joke. One piece of sliced bread toasted and jam after expecting tostadas... a cup of coffee and a glass of orange juice. Having travelled the length of France and across Spain and back via Segovia we were used to being given a decent breakfast. School children were treated better when they entered the cafeteria for their first meal of the day. We found the atmoshpere unfriendly both in the evening after travelling all day and in the morning with different staff.. Poor service and dismissive in our experience and we are friendly polite people. The person at reception tried to avoid returning our parking charge .. we had parked on the street... by calling it a service charge! We did get it back after a discussion!

The hotel offers great value for money with its affordable prices and attention to detail. The rooms are comfortable and I especially loved having my own balcony with outside chairs to enjoy the lovely garden. The staff at the reception were extremely friendly and helpful, even offering assistance with our luggage. The location of the hotel is ideal, being close to the town centre and easy to access en route to the ferry port. The breakfast provided an interesting atmosphere with lively locals, making it a unique experience.
All was fine, I couldn't find any faults during my stay.
